latest reads

i have a love/hate relationship with amazon.

on the one hand, it's amazing.  absolutely one of my favorite sites to visit.  i feast on the pictures and descriptions of the newest electronic do-dads and the reviews of an endless list of books.  i even search for hard-to-find korean beauty products.

but the hate relationship started about a month after i got my precious...i mean, i mean, my kindle.  i'd have a moment or two during the day between work projects, and i'd get on amazon to just "take a look."  before i knew it, i purchased 8 kindle books.  all it takes is one click of your mouse.  click on your mouse 8 times and get an amazon tab that's pushing $80!  don't make it so easy, amazon.  ask me for my password, ask me for my credit card number, ask me to do a jig.  don't just let me buy with one click of my mouse for crying out loud.

but as with all love/hate relationships, the love part is actually a tad bigger.  or in my case with amazon, significantly bigger.

my recent kindle purchases:
1. the scarlet letter - nathaniel hawthorne
2. wuthering heights - emily bronte
3. little bee - chris cleave
4. the entire virginia woolf collection
5. the girl with the dragon tattoo - stieg larsson
6. cutting for stone - abraham verghese

ok, no more!.... until next week.

  1. Someone once recommended "Count of Monte Christo" and even bought me the (enormously thick) book as a gift. And I had to gently turn her down with, "I... don't read..." She told me to trust her and read it, and next thing I know, it's one of my favorites.

You should have a running list of books that you read (with your ratings maybe?). That way, when I feel like picking up a book, I can come over here and pick out the highest-rated one.

    teeheehee.
