i've been battling a cold for what seems like forever, and it's seriously put a damper on my enthusiasm for anything, including (sadly) read + feed. but fear not! i have overcome my coughing... at least enough to write a quick entry.
i spent the weekend with my sister doing this and that, mainly just puttering around the house and eating whatever she cooked up. it was really too hot to be outside for very long. we did, however, venture out into the heat for a brief visit to the gwinnett public library in suwanee. yes! public libraries do still exist! i even signed up for a library card, and now i'm a proud, card-carrying member of the gwinnett county library.
remember going to the library when you were younger? it was always filled with other little kids whose parents dropped them off for hours and used the public library like a free babysitter. well now, it's.... actually pretty much the same. i did see lots of kids there, but hey, i'm now a total advocate of encouraging kids to read even if it's forced reading for several hours. forced reading is still reading.
rather than wasting money on books you only half read, you might as well borrow from the library and save yourself the $15. i've also heard that you can get ebooks from the library's website. i haven't tested it with my kindle yet, but i'll update when i do. plus, you have access to all the novels, magazines, cookbooks, and tween books (ok, i admit it) you could want. why not take advantage?
the public library is becoming hip... i mean, c'mon, it's on facebook and twitter.
